God Still Heals Today

A Longing Fulfilled
Hi! I’m Reyno Vicente S. Guirindola, an alumnus of Visayas State University (VSU) in Leyte, Philippines.
Growing up in a Christian family and attending church regularly exposed me to God. But knowing about God did not mean I was close to Him. I often chose what I wanted and acted out of pride instead of following God’s will for me.
In senior high school in Cebu City, I met people who helped me grow closer to God. They taught me how to pray and follow Jesus daily. Slowly, my heart began to change, and I started to understand what it really means to have a relationship with God.
When the pandemic came, we had to go home, so I returned to my hometown before the lockdown began.
In March 2021, after feeling unwell and waking up dizzy several times, we decided to consult a doctor, who advised further tests in Tacloban City for a more accurate diagnosis. The result was cardiac arrhythmia—an irregular heartbeat.
Because of this, I felt devastated, leading me to reevaluate my life, with the fear that I might die sooner. The doctor recommended that I undergo a pacemaker implantation, a minor heart surgery which costs a lot of money. However, we decided not to take that path. I believed healing comes from God, so we held on to His Word.
Through His comfort, guidance, and wisdom, God led me toward a greater purpose and mission. My prayer changed from “Lord, heal me” to “Your will be done.” And from thinking “I am ready to die” to “I am ready to do whatever I can for Your glory with the time I have.”
A year later, I believed the healing and committed to taking better care of my health and body—the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Now, I am deeply blessed. I recently graduated from college, and during my years at VSU, God allowed me to grow in faith through the Students of Destiny. Even away from my hometown and church, I continued serving Him. He opened doors I never imagined and poured out countless blessings.
In conclusion, this testimony tells of God’s great love, mercy, and grace. He paved the way for my salvation and personal encounter with Him. Though His ways may be difficult to understand, they are always best. I have learned to trust, believe, and obey Him and His will. Everything I’ve been through has shaped who I am today—a son, a servant, a friend, a family member, a colleague, and an instrument of God’s will and purpose.
